The 3 Steps To Treat Mold In Your Home
Treating mold in your home is a 3-step process that requires a number of state certified professionals in order to get the job done correctly. Here at Mold R Us we work with the best companies in your local area, hand in hand, ensure the process runs as smooth as possible. The 3-step process is as follows:
- Mold Inspection
- Mold Sanitization OR Mold Remediation
- Post Remediation Verification
Step 1: Mold Inspection
The initial mold inspection we offer is comprised of a full property inspection, both interior and exterior. We inspect the exterior walls and structure to see if any defects may be causing your contamination problem from the outside, in.
As for the interior, our first order of business is to check the hot spots in your home that may cause indoor contamination and a reduction in indoor air quality. In order to complete a proper inspection, we use the following equipment throughout the property:
- Moisture Meter
- Humidity Meters
- Infrared Camera
- Borescopes
- Compass
- Pry bars
- High Powered Flash Lights
- High Powered UV Lights
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Air Quality Samples
- Swab Samples
- Bulk Samples
As professionals, our goal is to cause the least amount of damage to your property upon inspection. The usage of our meters, cameras and sampling methods is how we accomplish this goal. However, if our meters confirm that the damage is too extensive and the structure [i.e walls, floors, ceilings] will need to be removed, we will consult with you, the homeowner, and upon approval we will remove small portions of the structure to get a better picture of the problem at hand. The samples we then send off to the lab for analysis inform us of the extent of the contamination, and provide us with a total understanding of how to rid your home of any mold spores. With all of our mold assessments, you will receive a 20-30 page report of all our findings and a protocol for remediation; this protocol is a step by step procedure of how to restore your home to a habitable and healthy environment.
Step 2: Mold Sanitation/Mold Remediation
According to Florida Statutes, the company who completes the initial mold inspection may not conduct the mold remediation. This statue was created in order to prevent a conflict of interest. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. We work hand in hand with the best mold inspection & remediation companies throughout Florida. With your permission, we will pass along every piece of information we have regarding your property in order to ensure the remediation company comprehends your property in its entirety. We will be there with you every step of the way to ensure a smooth transition to one of our neighboring companies.
If you have already had your mold inspection done by another company and are interested in our services regarding mold sanitization or remediation, we’ve got you covered. The first thing we will request is your inspector written mold report that entails your lab results and protocol from remediation. Upon review, we will ask to schedule an appointment to come out and see the property ourselves. Upon inspection, we will send a detailed remediation estimate out to you in 24 hours. Our remediation estimates include a breakdown of the supplies needed, labor and length of the remediation. Our number one priority is ensuring your safety during any project, therefore if it is possible to contain the area of the home that work will be done on while the rest of the house is safe, we will attempt to d that. But if the contamination is extensive, we will require evacuation of the property for less than a week.
Step 3: Post Remediation Verification
Lastly, the third step in treating your home for mold is the Post Remediation Verification [PRV]. A PRV is a final inspection once the remediation work has been completed by a separate company. This ensures that the remediation company did their job correctly, there are no harmful counts of mold spores & that your home is now a safe and habitable space that you can return to. If you opt to do your initial inspection with us, we will work closely with the hired remediation company to provide the most accurate PRV as possible. If we happened to do your remediation, we will call one of our neighboring companies to do the PRV for us.
